Hand-Crafted WildLawn Seed
WildLawn Magic
There's a ‘hidden’ magic inside our plants.
WildLawn plants were originally sourced from somewhere within a 100 miles from where you live. They already grow in your woods, nearby meadows, little streams, or even tucked away in your community park. There usually aren't many of them but WildLawn staff finds them, collects a baggie of seed, and grows more of them in our nursery.
Using local native plants for your lawn mean that they are specially-tuned to perform excellently in your area. WildLawn seeds aren't mass-produced in a foreign country or even very far away. WildLawn grows neonicitoid-free seed in unused fields and in founder plots in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania using local farmers to help out.
WildLawn retains complete control of the quality of our seed by growing it ourselves; our seed cannot be purchased anywhere else or by anyone else.
The pictures above show four of our seed plots on about 30 acres. We plant about 100,000 seedlings per acre to establish these fields. The rows are lightly cultivated a few times to keep the weeds down. We start harvesting in mid-October using fancy lawnmowers and either bag the cuttings or blow into a wagon.
Using a traditional combine just wouldn’t work because our grasses and flowers are naturally so short. Cuttings are dried in the sun and winnowed to remove most of the chaff. We screen the seeds at our farm and pack them for future use.
WildLawn seeds are literally hand-crafted from start to finish.
